Florence clubs: where to have fun in Spring Summer

Have you just arrived in Florence to study? Have you managed to adjust to the pace of college, but still struggle to discover the fun this wonderful city has to offer? Have you already read our post on Florence students’ five favorite nightclubs but still haven’t found the one that’s right for you?

So here are some tips to make every evening in Florence special and special.

Where to have late dinner

There is no better way in Florence than to start an evening with the right vibe with anapericena, an aperitif formula adopted by some of the city’s hottest venues. The idea is to offer an inexpensive option especially for young students to be able to turn a classic appetizer into a full-fledged dinner.

So where to go for a satisfying apericena? Easy! Among the classics are Rifrullo, in San Niccolò, Soul Kitchen on Via de’ Benci, and Terrazza Martini, which is located near one of the city’s best-loved nightclubs, Otel. For those looking for glamour, how can we not mention Flò at Piazzale Michelangelo; this is a nightclub, open in the summer, that also provides entry with an apericena formula.

Still not convinced? First of all, get it out of your head that having cocktails is forty-something and too fancy; even the most down-to-earth venues offer simple, goliardic locations. If you are in the Holy Spirit area, try Tamerò or Volume.

New for spring-summer 2017 is Molo5, on Lungarno Colombo, an open-air space with as many as five pavilions where you can choose from even very different gastronomic offerings-from Koto Ramen’s Japanese cuisine to Nigro’s lampredotto-and enjoy live music, DJ sets and concerts. The common denominator will be the REX Club, a historic venue on Via Fiesolana, which, not content with serving drinks in its original location, will also handle cocktails prepared at Molo5.

Florence downtown nightclubs: the most loved by students

Florence offers great alternatives for club nights, not only on weekends but also starting Monday! The advice is to alternate between evenings in Florence’s historic clubs and the many small up-and-coming clubs on the streets of downtown.

Good music, alternative evenings, and reduced cost or free admission are the perfect formula for an off-campus student! Start with hip hop on Mondays at YAB, move on Tuesdays to Bamboo Lounge & Club also featuring hip hop (plus reggaetton) or the historic THE SPACE, and then move on Friday and Saturday nights between Club Twentyone, Babylon and Blue Velvet.

If you prefer live acts, however, we suggest you check out the latest nights being planned at Tender, Combo and the Flog (but there is a need to move to the Campo di Marte and Poggetto areas, respectively, and ) pending the opening of theOff Bar, in the gardens of the Fortezza da Basso.

Peculiar clubs in Florence?

If what you are looking for is a special evening, or why not in sweet company, treat yourself to a drink at one of the most interesting venues in the Florentine nightlife. During the warm season, how can you not pass by Le Murate: in the courtyard of the former Florentine prison, you can sip cocktails, attend concerts and improvised shows in a cozy and trendy environment.

Or head into San Niccolò, where at the height of Piazza Ferrucci hides Surf Ventura. The door to this pub is a porthole; knock and once inside you will be greeted by the owner, who, after asking you a few questions, will prepare the right drink for you. And if you enjoyed Surf Ventura, have fun discovering the Rasputin “secret bar” in Santo Spirito.
Finally, for rum lovers and Cuba enthusiasts, near the San Lorenzo market hides Sabor Cubano. Owner Carlos, a native Cuban, makes the best mojitos and daiquiris in town!
